Traveling to Belize Glover’s Reef Atoll

Upon landing at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport, you have a choice of transportation options to get to Hopkins, where we recommend you stay the night before heading to the island.

Belize City International Airport is a short, non-stop flight away from many cities in the United States, Canada, and Central America. See more information HERE. First, you will fly into Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (PGIA) in Belize City, which provides excellent signage to help travelers get through customs and transfer to the in-country flight. Please visit the FAQ page for information on chartering your own boat in the case of missed flights.

Your options for getting to Hopkins:

  1. A 90-minute taxi shuttle – the recommended option.
  2. A 15-minute commuter flight to Dangriga, followed by a 30-minute taxi ride to Hopkins. This option also requires checking in 30 minutes before your flight, which makes Option 2 similar in total time to Option 1. Flights are weather dependent and can incur delays.

Your dinner, lodging, and breakfast at the hotel in Hopkins is not included as part of the package.

Transportation from your hotel in Hopkins to Sittee River Marina, and boat ride on Sundays and Wednesdays is part of the all-inclusive package.

Sunday and Wednesday Departures
from Hopkins to Long Caye:

  • Complimentary land transportation from your hotel in Hopkins to Sittee River Marina 9:45 a.m.
  • Please be on time for the safety introduction at 10 a.m. on Sunday or Wednesday at Sittee River Marina.
  • Your guide will meet you at Sittee River Marina for a safety orientation at 10:00 a.m., before departing by a boat shuttle to Long Caye at 10:30 a.m.
  • Depending on the weather, it takes approximately 1.5 hours to get to Long Caye on Glover’s Reef Atoll
  • You will arrive at Belize Adventures, Long Caye, at 12:00 p.m. – where your island adventure begins

Sunday and Wednesday Departures
from Long Caye to Hopkins:

  • Breakfast at 6 a.m.
  • Bags on dock at 6:15 a.m.
  • You will depart Long Caye 6:30 a.m. arriving at Sittee River Marina by 8:00 a.m. – where your island adventure ends
  • Depending on the weather, it takes approximately 1.5 hours to get to Sittee River Marina
  • Catch your shuttle from Sittee River Marina to Belize City International Airport (not included)
  • Please ensure your international flight departs after 11:30 a.m.
